The French word "giclée" (zhee-klay) is a feminine noun that means a spray or spurt of liquid. Giclée prints are created with professional quality ink-jet printers that spray inks in continuous tones, leaving no dot pattern typical of offset screen prints.

Giclées are considered museum quality fine art prints. Unlike large, lithographic print runs, giclées are usually printed just a few at a time. High resolution digital scans are made of each painting. Then, the images are printed with dye-based, archival quality inks on acid-free, archival watercolor papers. Each print is approved, hand-signed and numbered by the artist.

Giclée prints should be displayed in a dry location out of direct sunlight. Proper care of these fine art prints will add to their longevity, and to enjoyment of them for years to come.
