      In this crazy-fast world, watercolor is my oasis. Time seems to stand still when I’m painting and everything becomes more vivid. With my work I invite art lovers to heightened awareness of the natural beauty in ordinary things. I’m drawn to luminous chiaroscuro effects of light and shadow, and to the interplay of formal elements like color, pattern and rhythm. Though my work is rendered in a realistic style, I emphasize the abstract nature of my subject with a flattened, graphic composition, and the hint of a story. I think of my paintings as visual haiku.
