About Me

Many of my childhood memories are filled with the scent of oil paint and turpentine, and my father squinting around the edge of his canvas to study his fidgety model. Every few minutes his voice broke the silence, “Sit still– just a few more minutes, Kristy.” He was a portrait painter and I wanted to be a professional artist like him. My journey as an artist has taken me through periods of experimental, abstract painting on huge canvases and over 25 years of commercial art. I studied art education at George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee, and fine art at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

I grew up in southern Wisconsin. Currently, I share a home and studio in Minnesota with my husband and one very personable cat. My artwork has appeared in juried exhibitions throughout the United States and has been honored with numerous awards. My paintings have been published in the Splash Series of books, Splash 8: Watercolor Discoveries and Splash 11: New Directions edited by Rachel Rubin Wolf.

Art-making heightens perceptions and transforms the way we see. It illuminates every moment. For this I am infinitely grateful and I wish that in some small way I can inspire others to “see” with new eyes.
